A new perspective?

Ok, faithful readers, I need your help. As you have noticed, lately my blog has been kind of quiet. This is mostly because there aren’t really a whole lot of movies left for me to watch, and not a lot of time to do so. So, I got to thinking… what I really need is another topic (or more) to cover, in addition to my tracking of the lists, to keep the blog alive with at least a couple of updates per week.

And that’s where you come in. I’d like to hear what you might be interested in reading here. There are many subjects which could be covered, but I’d like to keep it within entertainment, obviously. Below are some ideas. Do let me know what you think, and feel free to come up with other suggestions too.

Track another movie list of some kind
I would need suggestions, but one idea I had was to track Hitchcock movies (”Hitchcount”).

TV
This is probably the topic where I’d have the most to add. I watch a bunch of TV and always have opinions on the good and (usually more fun) the crappy.

Quizzes
Weekly or monthly mini-quizzes for you all to participate in.

Now lay your brilliant ideas on me.

Hitchcount would be awesome, because really, they’re all worth watching. I’ve seen 27 of them so far, and there’s always something completely amazing in every single one.

TV sucks, but you already know that. Quizzes are good if you’re giving away prizes :P

Other than that, just keep the posts coming, so people won’t lose interest. Simple stuff like a random thought on whatever or a screenshot + quote of a movie you love are always nice. Also random, simple thoughts on the movies you watch wouldn’t take you as much time as page-long reviews (though you should still write them when you think the movie merits one). How about a “looking forward to…” section? I never know what’s coming up.

Surely, you can make it work.

Those are all excellent suggestions, Ze. I’m liking the Hitchcount idea a lot, but I might put it off until the new year, and work some of them into my Resolutions.

I know you think TV sucks, but I might have to write a couple of things next month when the new season kicks off.

As for random stuff, I like those ideas of random reviews, stuff I’m looking forward to, etc. What do you think of doing a top 5 every week or so? Then I could get user participation too, and we could get some discussion going…

A weekly top 5 could be a good idea. You could even give people a reason to visit daily, if you chose to reveal your picks one each weekday.

Something else you should do is a top 10 movies of the new millenium so far.

Excellent; I knew I could rely on you.

I will implement some of these ideas over the next week or so.

I really had fun with my alphabet movies. The task was to watch a movie whose title started with a specific letter and work my way through the alphabet. And I tried not to pick obvious choices and I never picked a movie I had already seen.

I’m loving all these ideas. Keep them coming. Soon I will come up with a plan of what I’m gonna do.

I’m leaning towards just doing simple stuff like top 5s, quizzes, etc for now, until the new year or so, and then kick off some new lists, like Hitchcount and the Alphabet project, in 2008.

Unless inspiration strikes me. Stay tuned.

Asides
  • I’m back from my vacation now (best.week.ever) and have some catchin up to do. In August, I will write those last IMDb250 reviews that I didn’t get to in July, and then I’ll get back to work on my Resolutions and the Alphabet Project.

  • As you’ve noticed, Shoot the Glass is undergoing spring cleaning at the moment. Sorry for the mess and thanks for your patience.
